Tom Hardy Upcoming Movies 2019

1. Unreasonable Behavior

Coming off the back of The Revenant, Tom Hardy is set to portray Don McCullin in a biopic about the photojournalist, who risked his life on a daily basis to capture the grim reality of life in war zones.

The as-yet-untitled film will be adapted from McCullin’s autobiography Unreasonable Behaviour (that would make a pretty good name for the film to be fair), according to Deadline, by ’71writer Gregory Burke.

McCullin, who is now 80, has had a fascinating life, growing up in poverty London before becoming The Times’ go-to guy for war photojournalism.

2. The True American

A few months after releasing both “Jackie” and “Neruda” in theaters, Pablo LarraĆn has lined up his next project: Deadline reports that the Chilean filmmaker is set to direct Tom Hardy in “The True American” for Annapurna.

The True American will draw from Anand Giridharadas' non-fiction tome subtitled Murder And Mercy In Texas. It’s the story of Raisuddin Bhuiyan, a Bangladesh Air Force officer who longed to live and work in America’s technology sector. He made it to the States, finding temporary work in a Dallas minimart, which is where cruel fate intervened. A few days after September 11, 2001, self-styled "American Terrorist" Mark Stroman walked into the store and shot him.

3. Shackleton

Tom Hardy is set to star in a new film about Ernest Shackleton, the polar explorer famous for his remarkable escape from the Antarctic continent with all his crew despite losing his ship when it was crushed by ice.

Tom Hardy looks to be the rugged actor who’ll take on the role of Shackleton, as an epic movie is coming together with Peter Straughan writing the script, and Studiocanal coming aboard to fully finance. Who’s Shackleton? He led three British expeditions to the Antarctic, but the polar explorer is best remembered in how he handled adversity. His ship Endurance was crushed by ice floes and he managed to keep everyone alive in a harrowing journey to safety in sub-zero temperatures. CAA and United Agents rep Hardy, who was Oscar-nominated for The Revenant and next stars in the Christopher Nolan-directed Dunkirk.

4. My War Gone By, I Miss It So

Tom Hardy will produce and star in the Bosnian War movie “My War Gone By, I Miss It So,” Variety has learned exclusively.

The film is based on the 1999 book of the same name by Anthony Loyd, an English journalist and war correspondent. Gavin O’Connor is attached to direct and produce, along with Scott LaStaiti, who launched Palantir Group as an entertainment fund last year.

“My War Gone By, I Miss It So” is Lloyd’s personal account of the Bosnian War, and alternates between his experiences in Bosnia and personal reflections of his time in the British army, his parents’ divorce, his estrangement from his father, and his heroin addiction.

5. Fonzo

Filming is underway on Chronicle and Fantastic Four filmmaker Josh Trank’s long-developing Al Capone movie Fonzo, and star Tom Hardy appears to be having a blast. The Oscar-nominated performer has not been shy about sharing some candid behind-the-scenes snaps on his Instagram page, giving us our first look at Hardy’s transformation into the notorious criminal.

Written by Trank, Fonzo takes a unique track in looking at Capone’s life as it picks up with the man when he’s 47 years old, having spent nearly a decade in prison. As dementia rots his brain and his mind becomes a mishmash of harrowing memories from his violent past, he’s forced to consider his actions in a disturbing way.
